Gear doesn’t matter
Sweden
Приєднався 24 лис 2013
This is a tech channel that lately is focusing on photography. Some new stuff as well as a lot of "old" forgotten cameras. "Modern vintage". I always try to keep the budget low and the quality high.
Even though I review cameras its more about the image making than the numbers. The gear is pretty much just an excuse to talk about photography, the process of creating and show of photos.

Leica Q2 Monochrom vs DJI Air 3 - The difference is in the details..
Is the DJI Air3 with its 0.3mp higher resolution a Leica Q2 killer? The development in camera technology plateaued many ears ago. Today most cameras are good enough and gear doesn't matter much. But there are subtle differences that can separate two otherwise similar cameras. In this video we compare two random cameras with 5 reasons making the case for each.
Please note that some of the wide angle shots where made with a DJI Mini, that has the exact same sensor and lens as the Air. It was also used in a video sample since there where people close by.

HALBE reached out and asked if I wanted to test their high end, custom made, magnetic frames. And boy Im I glad I did. I was quite happy with my old consumer printer and later my pigment printer. The photo papers I had was decent as well. But I hated my frames. They are made in Germany but seem to have retailers outside of Europe as well. The Olympus OM-1 - The ultimate Exit Camera - Bye bye full frame?

The Olympus/OM System OM-1 might be the last camera you will ever need. With crop sensors and lenses this good there could hardly be any reason to upgrade. I bought the cheapest camera I could find! - Any good?
they go for $600 now in 2024.. for that price you can get an a6400 with a pancake lens...
You can find them cheaper. But if they did cost the same, why downgrade to the a6400?
I got Panasonic G9 open box for $600 with 12-60 weather proof lense. It does feel enough for years to come. Olympus M1 Mk2 is great but will cost about same used if I good condition, OM1 is way more. I will grab G9 - 2 when price will go down and will be done for another 10-15 years.

tamron 18-108 , I love this lens, but I can't seem to find anywhere on the Internet to buy it, and there is very little information about it. I want one very much(T ^ T)
So it's been about a month since I saw this video, and I've mostly followed your lead - swapped from a full frame Lumix to the OM-1, with the 12-40 and 40-150 2.8 pro lenses. Only change is I swapped out the macro lens for the 300mm f4. Absolutely love this combo
I really really miss those phones!
You forgot the most important advantage of the DSLR! The bloody battery life... I have never been nervous about the battery life with DSLR... with Mirrorless I take two full charged with myself and yet I run out of the battery after a long shooting day... As a photographer who used extensively both systems, overall Mirrorless gets more check-marks than DSLR... Another thing is D850 should not be compared with Z5 for example... D850 (flagship DSLR) should be compared with Z9, Z8... then some of the differences become minor, for example the ergonomics... flicker free EVF...
Do you still have the Pixii? What was your long-term experience?
Hey, Mattias. Thanks for your vids. How does it compare in size with the Ricoh GRIII o GRIIIx? I would buy these if the screen was tiltable... I've found an used for 669€ which I think is quite expensive but the Ricoh moves around 850€ too...
It’s bigger and noticeably heavier.
Maybe you mentioned it and I missed it. But the sound this thing makes when you take a picture is worth it alone. It’s like closing the door on an old school s-class Mercedes. Just incredible and will keep you pressing the button.
I just upgraded from the EOS 80D to the 5DmIV as they are flooding my local used-market. I got a low-shutter-count version and am blown away by the upgrade in IQ when coupled with the Sigma 85mm 1.4 I also picked up for a bargain. Happy days...
I think for me, I cannot help but think OM1 is too big. I wish they bring that in size of OM5 with better menu systems, etc. I also find lack of a reasonable size 28-35mm FF equivalent bright lens unfortunate. 17/1.2 is fantastic but feels massive.
Equivalents doesn’t effect aperture. So plenty of f1.8 to choose from.
Sorry Fuji, but I would go with Sony this time.
Nice video - I've been using my phone recently for walkabout shots but just need bigger images. I've found my Fuji XT-20 just slightly too big for pocketing, so the GR III might be the best option (and I like the wider angle).
Love my 6+ years old D850, have quite a few Sigma Art primes and Tamron zooms, I'm really happy with the results I get.
Gear matters.
Nope, Gear wont magically make you a better photographer.
@@mattiasburling absolutely. But that's not the issue.
Totally is the issue.
this or the pixxie?
Do you want a rangefinder? If yes: Pixii If no: not a Pixii
Too many electronic screens in our faces already and has been this way for a long time now. Nope, EVF cameras were fun in the early 2000's, but all my serious gear has an optical finder. It's just a better overall experience and you save loads of $ too. I don't care about spending money though, it's about getting the job done with the best experience. Camera makers need to sell cameras, I always said stopping development 100% on DSLR's was a big mistake. That they should have adopted a co-development strategy because people still want and use DSLR's. It will and already has come back to bite them on the ass.
3:35 I feel absolutely no need to make somebody else recognize me as a 'badass photographer'. I love keeping a low personal profile when shooting, without the sound of a mirror. I know both cases: a Nikon DSLR and a Sony mirrorless are part of my tools arsenal at the moment, and the Nikon will have to leave soon. I don't need it anymore.
Its a joke..
At 3:05 which camera is that? Looks awesome!

Gear doesnt matter, but it has subtle differences? :DDD im done silly lil bro.
I love my 246 and the three Leica lenses I have (28, 50, 90), render wonderfully on it. Mind you, they render colour wonderfully on my m10 as well
I guess your website is no longer in service. Where else can I find your written review of this? Thanks.
No I have removed the site. Might repost it on a new one soon.
@@mattiasburling I just got an XPimage focal reducer, and I want to compare notes with yours. 😄
I have to agree with you, Mattias, and with your comments below. I've been a Pentax shooter for over 35 years, but I "abandoned" Pentax and DSLRs over four years ago to switch to the Fuji mirrorless system... but I still kept my Pentax K5 and all my old manual glass going back to the 80s and 90s. But now, four years on, I'd had enough of looking through EVFs and longed for the return of a "real" viewfinder, and seeing things in real time. After re-watching your video for the Pentax K1, I finally bit the bullet and bought one a month ago. I love it! Much as I love the Fuji XT2, I never liked the EVF so I'm going to sell it and just keep an XT10 or XT20 as a small walkabout camera. And now, being able to use all my old Pentax manual glass on the K1 with excellent focus confirmation, I will be staying with DSLRs, thank you very much! 🙂
5D or 1Ds Mark III?
I still shoot Df. I love it even more with AI and AFD lenses coming down in price❤😊
Thank you: Got to get one: Love that dog of yours
Hi ! My daughter is 12 very much into photography- she loves street and really wants a camera that will give her tonnes of growing room. Something cool and special, that will last her a lifetime. What’s the best value camera I should be looking at second hand is what I want, with scuffs and bangs is ok!!!
Without a budget it’s very difficult.
@@mattiasburling I would say around £600
@@timhoughton5174 Canon 5D with a 50mm f1.8 is a great start. If she rather have something small you should be able to get a GX9 and a decent prime for that.
En el minuto 4:15 se aprecia un depredimiento del marco de fondo superior derecho ante de poner el marco externo, es un poco fragil me parece.
Nothing fragile at all.
Coming back to photography after 7-8 years out. Starting with a new system as whilst great, my Nikon D7000 is a bit long in the tooth now (and I have GAS 😆).I hired a Sony A7iv with 24-70 f2.8 GM and then a Fuji X-H2 with 16-55 f2.8 red label. Bought the Fuji, then was handed an OM-1 with 12-40 f2.8 Pro to play with. I can't get over how compact and light the OMDS setup is compared to the other (especially FF systems). I can't fault the images either for my use case. Yes I have to think/adapt a bit more if I want blurrier backgrounds but that's about it. Couldn't find anywhere to hire the OM-1 so I now have an OM1Mk2 on my desk alongside the Fuji and they're going to be battling it out for a couple of months before I decide which system to go with. Currently I love them both for different reasons but as I'm only a hobbyist photographer, I really can't justify having two systems, so one will have to go.
2024 and still loving my Df. I have a Z7, a D850, D7200, D4, a D5 which I use for architechtural and live events work to earn some money. But when I want some ME TIME to take photos for ME, I break out the Df and my collection of 80s and 90s glass... such as the epic 135 2.0 DC. The sensor on this camera is forgiving of old glass and nothing short of PHENOMENAL for night time photos... Oh, and the colour rendering? chef's kiss.
I just picked one up for $1,450. What a steal. At 3k MSRP no thank you. But when you get to these used prices it’s hard to say no. Even 3 years after its release it’s so relevant if you can live with the quarks. Again at 50% off when buying used… it’s well worth it.
I have the original E- M1 (16MP) and a Panasonic G6, both cameras use the same lenses and are absolutely superb for travel photography. The small size of both bodies and lenses make them so easy to carry everywhere. Yes there are limitations with these earlier models, but you can easily work round those. I have a crop sensor Canon dslr which is superb in its own way, but with the lens weighs about 3 times the MFT cameras, and is a lot more bulkier.
Mere hours after the announcement of the GH7 and here i am to say that even after 7 years, this video looks more pleasing than anything ive seen from those reviewers that are showing off the GH7
How do you adapt the P6 lenses to the Mamiya mount at the adapter? That would fulfill the dream of mine to get a digital cam that could go with my P6 without breaking the bank…
Just a cheap P6 to Mamiya adapter.
This vid inspired me to get one, ive been using the 35T and i love it. I have so much fun with it
That's great 👍
All the camera il ever need in 2024 + so i bought 2 , no excuse not to own pro glass , now virtually unused lenses are 1/3rd price of new
How does leica monochrome shoot colour pictures ?
Using the filters I show next to it and by processing the images together like I show in the video.
Thank you. Great. I totally agree!
I wanted a good camera for my landscapes and well I found my Canon 6D and Canon 24-85 for $350 USD and the images are so good and the best part about shooting with a DSLR is the freaking battery life. I mean it just keeps going and going god I love it.
